Allen Yuan entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in 2004 on full scholarship. He joined Hong Kong Dance Company in 2008 and has danced major and principal roles in numerous performances including Eagle Companions, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, Spring RitualEulogy, 8/F Platform – RetrospectionPerspective, Storm Clouds, Chinese Hero: A Lone Exile and Liu Sanjie.
He was associate choreographer of RUSH and Cycle, which were presented at the Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2012 and 2015 respectively. Yuan was awarded a 2014 Asian Cultural Council scholarship for advanced studies in dance in the United States. He presented his work YUAN at the International Choreographers Residency Program of the American Dance Festival in 2015. He also participated in the Duet Dance Festival in Seoul in the same year. In 2016, Yuan presented co-choreographed work Focus on 0 at the Tokyo Dance Bridge International. He was invited by local gallery Sin Sin Fine Art in 2017, 2018 and 2020 to present, Samsara and breathe. His latest choreographic work JING was presented at 8/F Platform in 2019. JING was awarded the Outstanding Small Venue Production award at the 22nd Hong Kong Dance Awards.
