Journey of Sounds

Journey of Sounds

Choreographer’s Note
Way back when I was in form two, I bought a pair of “sound-emitting” leather shoes. For the next three years they were with me wherever I went: the school playground, the classroom floor and the roads leading to my home. All these places became my private, fancy haunts, where I immersed myself in tapping. My indulgence stems from Tap Dogs, a video I watched at that time. The rundown steel toe boots featured in the film have long been tapping in my heart.
In form four I got my first pair of tap shoes. I was so excited that I wore them to school one day.
Today, after ten years, I’ve managed to make a lot of “sound-emitting”acquaintances. Dance studios, computer keyboards and online networks are all perfect tapping grounds. But now that things are getting so much easier, I can’t help but ask myself: is my primal passion in tact? Is my heart still moved by the tapping sound?
