Independent Dance Artist

Wayson Poon is a Hong Kong contemporary dance artist. He moved to Beijing and established a dance company The Body Acts from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, he worked as an independent artist in the creation, performance, research and development and education of different regions in Europe and Asia. Wayson Poon dedicates himself to explore and develop a movement language that is unique to everyone's body. Guided by Qi from Taoist scriptures, Liquid Body and Five Rhythms, Wayson's movement and creations have combined oriental spirit and western methodology and deciphered the essence of body from different aspects. Notable works include Fleeing by night, in,visible(cities);, and Vortex. His works have appeared in a number of different areas art festival and tours, Beijing Dance Festival, Hong Kong Art Festival, Supercell Festival of Contemporary Dance in Brisbane, Full moon Dance Festival, Melbourne Festival, Kyoto Experiment, Si Dance Festival, Guangdong Dance Festival, etc. In recent years, He received the Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist (Dance) in 2016. He was nominated as Hong Kong Dance Award 2018 – Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer, and gained the Asian Cultural Association 2019 Fellowship.
